The Aiguille is to die for!

I have been pining to see the Aiguille dress for months and months now. Finally a few days ago I got to see it in person and try it on. I knew in my heart this was the one, all of their dresses are absolutely unique and stunning but this was the ONE for me. I am 5'6" and size 6 normally, in a 1.5" heel the dress dusts the floor perfectly and I walked out with a size 4. I can't wait to wear it on my big day.

Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous.

I had previously bought a wedding dress from a high-end boutique, and though the dress was beautiful, it just didn't feel right. I had seen (and lusted over) this dress before, but seeing it on the model, I didn't think it would look as nice on my 5'8" size 10 frame. I got it in the mail, expecting to return it, and it fit like a GLOVE. The beading is gorgeous, and if you are having an outside wedding, the sun shines through the overlay and off the beading in the most incredible way. People told me numerous times I looked like an angel. It's a very glamorous, but very comfortable dress, and it seems to fit a variety of body types in different but equally beautiful ways.

Simply Beautiful

After trying on many gowns, this dress was simply perfect, formal, but relaxed. It fits slightly larger than expected, however I don’t think it’s supposed to be a snug fit. I'm a size 2/4 in dresses, I ordered a 4, however I'm a size 6-8 around the hips. With that being said, the slip is terrible. The fabric is extremely clingy, ridding up with every step, it also hugs my body in the most unflattering way. Given that the dress is sheer, one can see every bit of your figure beneath. However you can’t beat the uniqueness, so I’m having a slip made. Overall, it’s a very comfortable dress, with impeccable detail.

STUNNING

I LOVE THIS DRESS. I have been on the hunt for MONTHS for the perfect formal bridal reception dress. I have ordered everything under the sun. Nordstrom, Niemans, Bloomys... Nothing said bridal, fun and formal. They all looked just another non bridal gown or another big white dress.
I am a street size 12/14 in dresses but only due to my bust. I am a 36E and a 10 in jeans. This dress hugs in all the right places. I am 5'5 (5'8 in heels) and it is perfect. I had my seamstress cut off the bottom 1.5 inches of mesh on the dress and no problems with dragging or slip.
Wear a pair of nude control top nylons. Give you a little extra hold and makes the dress lay smooth against your body.
ORDER THIS DRESS. I just cant get over how beautiful it is in person. Its a cross between a Clair Pettibone and Jenny Packham. Anna Sui is the actual designer and she does not disappoint.

Beautiful dress, but not for every skin tone

It was with great disappointment that I returned this dress today. Overall, I just couldn't fall in love with it, and boy did I try! The 2 issues were the color and the slip.
The warm cream tone of the dress and the dark slip just didn't do my fair, rosy skin tone justice. It just blended and looked blah. The beading and design is beautiful, but the slip is way too short as others noted, hitting me at least 3-4 inches above the beaded trim (especially in the back). It was also completely sheer so I don't know what other brides are finding to wear under this dress. It shows everything!
I spent a week or more combing thrift stores and online shops to find a white slip or vintage nightgown to try and brighten it up to no avail. I couldn't find the length needed without having one custom made. Considering the cost of the dress, I just couldn't justify it. I did try on a shorter one in white that I found and it still just didn't WOW me.
In the end, the color and inability to find an appropriate undergarment did an already-stressed-out bride in. Thank goodness I still have time to continue my search.

Pretty, but not quite right

First off, I'm posting a review primarily because my experience with BHLDN was so positive. I spoke to a very helpful stylist on the phone, and while I did end up returning the dress, the whole process was easy. Getting your wedding dress can be stressful, and for an online ordering process it was very smooth and professional. For those who like the dresses posted on the site, don't hesitate to go through the ordering process.
Secondly, about the dress. While it is pretty, and the detail is really quite lovely, it wasn't quite what I was hoping for. I loved that it had that 1920s/30s art deco look, very sophisticated, but when I tried it on, the fabric, which is nylon felt very costume-y.
About size--some people are saying that the dress is larger or longer than their normal size, others say it runs small. I'm not hung up on number sizes, I just care about fit, and I liked how it lay so effortlessly as it looks on the model, so I went a size up (10) just as the stylist recommended. I'm normally a 6-8 in a dress, and I preferred how the 10 fit on me, as I don't think it's intended to fit snugly against the bust. The waist is tailored so it'll be very figure flattering even if you order a size up. I suppose it's all about preference because I imagine there are some people who want the bodice to fit very snug, but I am certainly not one of them.

Perfect!

I saw this dress online and thought it was gorgeous! I happened to be going to Chicago to visit a friend, so I was able to try it on in the store and I immediately fell in love with it-- it was just as amazing as I'd hoped it would be.
It doesn't fit like it does on the model in the photo-- it's not nearly as baggy and low cut-- I suspect she's wearing a much larger size than she really is. Other than that, it looks exactly like these photos. I'm normally a size 2 and I bought this in a 2. I won't have to make any alterations, but I will have to wear heels because it's a bit long, which is fine because I would do that anyway.
I would post a photo, but I feel like that's bad luck before the wedding! If you are thinking about buying this dress, DO IT before even more sizes run out! I can't wait to wear it!

This dress is stunning

I was searching for a 1920's style dress for my wedding and I really wanted something that wasn't traditional. I found this dress as I was trawling around the internet and it was exactly what I was imagining. When I saw it was on a US site (I'm in the UK) I was worried about ordering it in case it wasn't the right fit - I didn't want to have to ship it back again. However, I knew that it was THE dress so checked my measurements and made the order.
I am 5'10" and size 12 (14 UK) and some of the previous reviews had made me slightly concerned the dress wouldn't be long enough. It arrived within 5 days of ordering (amazingly efficient considering am in the UK) and fits absolutely perfectly - the detail on the dress is exquisite - particularly the glass buttons and it reaches the floor so I can wear a small heel which is what I'd hoped. The slip is about ankle length which looks fine - I will need to wear skin-coloured underwear or possibly another slip as it is a little shear.
I am so excited about wearing this dress for my wedding - and I am really impressed with BHLDN, even the packaging is lovely.

Loved this dress

I got so many complements on my gorgeous gown at my wedding on Saturday. It's so comfortable and so unique. I was also 3 months pregnant and got the dress long before the pregnancy and it was super forgiving.
The main issue to note, as others have done also, is that the slip underneath is really shoddy -- it's too short, the slit is way to high (like almost crotch level) and it's really just shoddy construction, the seams are in the wrong place and the the top is flimsy. This wouldn't seem like a big deal as you could just buy another slip -- but good luck. It's impossible to find full length slips, in the right color and cut. I tried, believe me. I could have had another one custom made but after spending so much money, i couldn't be bothered to spend a few hundred on fabric and another slip. I had my tailor sew the slit so that it matched that of the dress and otherwise, i just dealt w it.
it didn't mess to much with the overall look -- looked great in person but was decidedly less flattering in photos - so i do think it's worth investing in getting a new slip made, especially as the dress itself runs large and it's the slip that really determines the size, I could have easily fit into the size 8 dress but the slip would have been too tight around my hips.
Other than that, fantastic and though the pics on the model really do not imply it, it's totally flattering and forgiving on curvy girls -- i was just curvy on the bottom but given the baby, i'm now fairly curvy on top as well and the dress worked out great.

This dress is amazing

I was hesitant to order this dress because the model is so thin, and I am rather curvy. After reading the reviews (so helpful!) I decided to go for it. I am so. glad. I. did. This dress is beautiful and so different from any other dress I've seen. The pic BHLDN shows gives you (I think) a totally accurate image of the dress--it is that color. The back of the dress is more beautiful than you can see. Otherwise it's exactly as they show it (though I do think it is nicer in person than in photos, as other have said).
I am 5'7, 150-155 lbs, proportional. I ordered a 6 and it fits great. I am normally a 6 in dresses. In other wedding dresses I have tried I am an 8. Order true to real dress size, not to weird wedding dress size. Not too tight and not loose; I was worried it would be too loose in the back, but it fits great (ie my butt looks pretty darn good). Very flattering. A tiny bit long (I'm wearing flats), but close enough that I probably won't alter it. If I were willing to wear heels it would be a perfect length.
As for sheerness--It's a little sheer, but not bad. I probably won't wear underwear because I am fine with that. I assume if you had nude undies on you'd be fine. (I was wearing black when I tried the dress on and you could see them.)

Dress of my dreams...

I am so glad I ordered this dress. I was weary of ordering something online without seeing it, but I couldn't get this dress out of my mind. I received the dress today, in beautiful packaging. When I opened it, my jaw dropped. The details on this dress are exquisite. The color is a little darker in person, but I was going for something darker anyway, so I was pleasantly surprised. The buttons are beautiful and the beading is pristine. I am 5'7 and the dress just hits the floor - so I will probably be wearing heels. Other than that, the dress fits perfect and true to BHLDN's measurement. I was worried the dress would only look good on a very slender frame, but I am 160 and it accentuates every curve I love. Bravo, BHLDN! This is a classic! I feel like a movie star in this dress.

The dress is great, the slip is not

First of all, for those reading about how long the dress is, they have shortened it after all the reviews. I am 5'9" and the dress just barely hits the floor. I will be wearing flats.
The dress itself is GORGEOUS. The pictures don't do it justice. It's more of a champagne color in person. Every time I zip open the bag it takes my breath away.
The problem is the slip. For such a gorgeous dress, the slip seems cheap and ill made. The slip fit me like a mermaid gown and ruined the look of the whole dress. It was also very short. It doesn't look unified like on the model. They are very clearly two different pieces.
I took it to a seamstress to see what we could do. She sent me to a dress-maker to have a custom slip made. She told me, "absolutely do not return the dress because of the slip. It is too gorgeous, you have to keep it." I feel the same way! The dress is too gorgeous to be ruined by what's underneath, but I definitely have to get something else to go underneath other than what it came with.

This dress and BHLDN are AMAZING.

First, I must express how pleased I was with the ease of ordering and the prompt delivery. My dress arrived beautifully packaged way sooner than expected to my pleasant surprise. This dress is simply DIVINE. The detailed beading is perfect, the fabrics are delicate and fine and the colors are a wonderful vintage palette. The buttons are gorgeous. I can assure you, she is a beauty! I am 5'6'' and 118lbs. I ordered this dress in a size 2. It may need slight alterations to the length (a couple inches too long which it seems should be easy) yet otherwise fits perfectly. On the model it seems a bit sheer, but in person I have found no need for a second slip. This dress is perfect for ladies seeking a unique, elegant, vintage style dress that is unbelievably comfortable to boot! I can't imagine wearing another dress on our special day!

Beautiful and unique

I wore this dress for my wedding this summer. I wanted a 20s glam feel and it was absolutely perfect! I was looking for a dress that was unique, comfortable, and something that I could wear a bra with. I am a 34DDD and I was concerned that the cut would be too low, but it was not. I wore it with a bra and clear straps. Tacky I know, but you could not see them through the dress. I did sew together the V in front so that it did not open too far. I am 5'4 120 lbs and I ordered a size 2. Besides the length, it fit alright. I had to take it in a little in the waist. Also, it sounds like I ordered mine before it was shortened, because it was sooo long and super hard to hem. I was very luck to find an amazing seamstress that was able to take it in at the waist by shortening the triangles. It was not an easy job, but definitely worth it.
The dress is a very soft sheer ivory overlay. What gives it, the nude color, is the nude slip underneath. I think if someone wanted it to be more ivory and less champagne, this easily could be fixed with a different slip. The beadwork is very detailed and more beautiful in person. The beads are actually a combination of silver and gold, which gives it the pewter finish. The buttons down the front are clear and round, and reflect the light of the beads. In the daylight, the dress is still a little sheer and I wore another shorter slip underneath. I was also unable to wear a garter because you could kind of see it (see 1st picture) but no big deal.
Overrall, I love love love this dress. I felt beautiful and comfortable all night long. I really want to find a way to wear it again!

A real vintage beauty.

I recieved my Aiguille dress a couple of days ago and I am thrilled with it. As mentioned in other reviews it has a real vintage feel and it more creamy/nude toned than depicted in the photography.
I am a UK 12 (US 10) with curves and the dress is a perfect fit. It's a really flattering shape and surprisingly comfortable too which always helps! The only critisism I have is that the slip underneath is a tiny bit too short on me (I'm 5'7) but this is easily sorted and doesn't detract from how much I love this dress.
I was a bit concerned that the dress would be overly low cut showing a bit too much cleavage but it really isn't, the images are deceptive as the model has a more boyish frame.
One thing to keep in mind if you're ordering outside the USA is to factor the tax/duty fee into the price when making your decision to order.
If you have any questions I'd strongly advise contacting a BHLDN stylist, I was in contact with the lovely Angela and she was endlessly patient and helpful.

Beautiful

I was reading over some of the other reviews, and I agree, this dress is fantastic! The color is great in person, though the sequins a bit more pewter than in the image. It is definitely a "vintage" color aesthetic.
Interestingly, I read a review where she said she was a 0, and a bit straight, and the style looked great. That is awesome, because I am much, much curvier, and this style is flattering in that it really accentuates your figure to look more hourglass.
Overall, it is just a really beautiful and interesting dress that is very feminine.

Too Short.

I love this dress, but I have to send it back because it is too short on me. I'm only 5'5" and it just hits the floor. It would be fine to wear flats with, but I definitely want to wear heels on my wedding day. I am disappointed because I feel that, being average height, I should be able to wear heels with a dress.

Perfect

I received the Aiguille gown this morning and it is THE dress! I am 5'7 and the length is perfect, in bare feet it drags a tiny bit, but in heels it just touches the floor like the model - it's like the dress was made for me! The detail is more stunning in person, and I was pleasantly surprised to find the beads a more gold tone than expected. I am a very slim size 0 with almost no boobs, but the dress gives lovely shape, and I don't need alterations. The slip ends where the beads end and alone is a nude/peach color that sets of the beading stunningly. I will upload photos once I'm married. This dress is absolutely amazing, thank you BHLDN and Angela for being apart of my special day!

Tall Brides Beware!

I completely agree with Libby's review below. I am 5'11" and was wondering when I received my dress why it didn't quite hit the floor with no shoes/flats on. It's a good length for not dragging, but I do like the dramatic effect of the dress hitting the floor. Also, the slip that came with my dress isn't even ankle length on me , it is literally a few inches past my knees. With the slip being so short it makes the whole bottom of the dress appear sheer which makes it so the beading doesn't stand out as much. I will probably have to buy another slip that is full length to get the same look as in the photo and may even be ADDING lace to the bottom to get the dress to be full length. I too bought this dress because it is totally gorgeous but also because it seemed made for tall women. I still don't see anyone under 5'7" (in heels) wearing this dress without it being way to long. I too am keeping this dress because it is perfect and exactly what I wanted, it just would have been nice to get a heads up about the length change on the newer orders.

Art deco divine

I wanted a dress with sleeves and also a dress that is unique and beautiful, this is certainly that. As a 6' tall bride I was very happy to read the reviews that the dress was perfect for very tall brides. When it arrived the dress was more golden and warm toned than it appears in the photos here, but I decided that the warmer color would still work on me. What disappointed me was that this dress is barely long enough for me. I see now that there is a new response from a BHLDN stylist in a review below that the dress measurements have been adjusted with their new order. I had to wait for my size to be in stock to order, so I'm guess that my dress is part of this newer, shorter stock? The silk lining is where it is particularly noticeably short on me, it falls above my ankles. If my dress is from the shorter stock it would have been nice to have been notified when I ordered. I was expecting the dress to fall the same on me as the model in the photo, who is 5'9" and wearing heels. Would have been a 5 star review if it was that long on me. I still am in love with this dress, as I am keeping it, but I just wanted to give a heads up to my fellow tall brides as I relied on those previous reviews myself. Overall I am very pleased with this gorgeous dress (will have to just wear flats for sure) and BHLDN's customer service when I sent an email asking about the length difference.
