Dissapointed

I really, really wanted to like this dress. I ordered a size six thinking it ran small and it was too big. Also, at 5'9, the dress is still too long and drags on the floor. The dress would be gorgeous if the colors depicted online matched the dress, but the blue is actually a light teal color. I refuse to see this purchase as a failure and I'm planning on taking it to a tailor to shorten the hem so it doesnt drag and take in the bust and waist so I can wear it as a sundress. The dress did arrive in a timely manner and is still beautiful.

Also Disappointed

I had high hopes for this dress, despite the negative reviews. I was most concerned about the color of the dress, so I looked through all the images of it I could find online. I even contacted BHLDN and a kind associate said the dress has beautiful jewel tones. The review with the photo stating that is its true color IS its true color, though. The associate was right, they are jewel tones, but only separately. Together, the underlayer and the top layer become the muted tone you see in the below review.
What saddened me the most though, was the poor quality. The zipper is the cheapest feeling zipper I have ever seen. The dress IS see-through, too, at the hips.
The dress is true to size, I ordered a 4, and it creates a nice draping effect, almost like a mermaid style gown.
Overall, quality is very poor, and the color of the product shot is not the color of the dress, but if you get this on major clearance, it still might be worth it to you.

TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED

I bought this dress in June to get married in, because I was in the market for something that was not white and something that looked vintage. BOY WAS I TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED!!!
I honestly don't know where to begin.
1. The matte lifeless colour, see attached pic for true colour (not at all like the model).
2. The poor quality materials and construction, for the price (I should have listened to the previous reviews on the subject).
Although the size was true (only redeeming factor) this dress was not appropriate for getting married in or anything else for that matter.
Avoid at all cost, don't be disappointed as well.

Gorgeous dress! and excellent customer service!

Loved this dress as soon as I received my package, would recommend it to everyone, especially tall women! I can´t believe that I have a really long dress, I´m 1,76 m tall and it´s very difficult to find long dresses for me. My husband loved it also when I tried it on to see if it fitted ok. AMAZING DRESS. Spectacular spectacular. Maybe just a little big, I´m a MEDIUM (size 8) but better this way than small. Very elegant, waiting for a special ocassion to wear it. This was my first buy in BHLDN and hope to have many more dresses and shoes and accesories from BHLDN.
Every body is different so I recommend everyone to buy it if you like it on screen.

This dress is see-thru, overpriced

I bought this dress for my engagement party and couldn't be more disappointed. It's see-through at the hips, so thighs and underwear are exposed. For the price, couldn't they have made this dress with better lining?
I guess that's what it comes down to -- for the price, this dress is just meh. If I pay $400, I want to look beautiful. Not boring (and exposed).
I'm so bummed -- I wanted to love BHLDN. Guess the wedding dress isn't coming from here :(

completely DISSAPOINTING

I was incredibly excited to be purchasing this dress but when I recieved it (a day later than the expected arrival date) i couldn't have been more dissapointed. Firstly, as I removed it from its orginal packaging it was completely wrinkled. Not only that but the fabric is surprisingly cheap and not a quality that nearly matched the price. The underlining actually looks like a cheap costume fabric from party city. The zipper is also cheap and didn't glide up with any grace. And the worst dissapointment was that the colors of the dress were completely different!!! The blue is actually a much lighter teal leaning more towards a green pallet and is draped over a gold lining which made the design look like somewhat of a blur instead of standing out as it beautifully does in the picture. I'm also a model so for the most part Im pretty tall and thin and this made me look wide. It is true to size however. But this one is definetely going back.

Prom Dress 2011

I am a high school junior and I bought this dress for my prom next weekend. I have already worn it once for another function and I love it. I got so many compliments on the uniqueness of it and the elegance. It also looks fantastic with my copper hair.
Needless to say, I doubt someone will have the same dress as me at prom... I would definitely suggest it.

Gorgeous Dress

I bought this dress for my son's wedding and it is stunning. I received many compliments. I did have the dress hemmed as it is very long. The only negative comment is that the lining is not made from quality material and it wrinkles very easily and shows through the tulle. Otherwise, the dress was a hit.

Quality Less Than Price

When I saw this dress on the site, I instantly fell in love. The kind of dress-in-love that I rarely feel as a 33-year-old; the kind that harkens back to my teen dress-in-love abandon. So, I was helpless to resist ordering this dress for an upcoming event, even though it is about twice what I wanted to spend. I like to purchase things of quality that will last, so I clicked "Submit Order" and eagerly watched my package as it was tracked to my porch.
It arrived in a roughly 12 x 12 x 4 box (for those not dimensionally inclined, this is a fairly flat square). It was folded with one sheet of tissue and a nice sticker, but I was kind of shocked at the packaging considering the price. When I unwrapped it, it was wedged and wrinkled, and I saw that the quality was no where near what I would hope the price tag indicated. The tan that you see under the blue is the only lining and it is a cheap cotton fabric, a refined burlap, if you will. The overlayer is a stretchy polyester.
That said, it looks pretty on, and my event is upon me and I just don't have time to look for something else, so I'm going to keep it. I guess my point is that if you are looking for a beautiful heirloom dress to last through the ages, this probably ain't it. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if it cost $25 to make, although I have no real basis for that statement other than growing up in the fashion industry and having bought other garments made in India (where this one is made).
Size-wise, I am 5'8" and it is still long on me . . . will rag the floor as it does on the model even with high heels. I got a 6 and I am usually a 6 or 8 dress (I'm smaller waisted, larger hipped); so I would say the sizing is pretty much as expected.
If you are inclined to put this one in your cart, just do so knowing that when it arrives, you'll probably think it should have cost more like $150, if that.
