BHLDN Brocade d'Orsay Heels

Oh-so-lovely, leg elongating Bettye Muller pumps, made of citrus-spiked brocade and topped with gleaming, gold-tipped bows crafted from vintage ribbon (something old, something new…). Fabric upper; leather sole. 3" fabric covered heel. Handmade in Italy. A BHLDN exclusive.

Pretty, but higher heel than advertised

These heels have incredible details, like the brocade fabric and gorgeous vintage ribbon bows. They are pretty much my dream wedding heels, except for one fatal flaw: the heel height.
They are advertised as 3" heels, but I measured them and they are 3.5"--not an insignificant difference. If you are measuring the amount your heel gets lifted from the ground (at the very back of the heel), then these are indeed 3.5" heels. I took them to an experienced cobbler (the one Bergdorf's uses), and the most they could lower them is about 1 cm. That's not enough for me, sadly, so back they go.
Please Anthro/BHLDN, understand that not everyone loves monster heels that have become the norm! It's easy to get flats and 3"+ heels, but in-between heels are hard to find. There's a viable market ready and waiting for these mid-range heels, as validated by heel-shortening services offered at many cobblers.
I also found these shoes to fit smaller than usual. I almost never have to size up or down, but for these I went up half a size larger. I don't think my true size would've worked at all.

Stunners, But........

Overall a very unique, beautiful shoe that is well made. Every detail is accounted for and the bow is stunning; however, I found the front of shoe to be narrow. I have very narrow feet, so this was a surprise as I've never run into this before. Also, the yellow accents on the shoe were really, really yellow, boarding on fluorescent which I did not find to be a compliment to the gold and silver bow. For these reasons I will be returning the shoe.

In Love With These Shoes!

I'm not getting married any time soon, but when I saw these shoes on the Bhldn website, I had to have them. In my opinion, they would look lovely for a variety of occasions (bridal showers, baby showers, tea parties, cocktail parties, fashion shows, etc.). The shoes look just as beautiful in person as they do on the website. The craftsmanship is excellent and the attention to detail in the design is superb.
One caveat - the sizing on the US/European conversion chart on the Bhldn website seems to be a bit off. If you order these shoes based on your true European size (if you've ordered European-sized shoes before) then I would say that the shoes fit true to size. However, if you look for your US size on the conversion chart and then order the corresponding European size, the shoes are probably going to be very small for your feet. For example, I normally wear a US size 8.5 and a European size 39.5. The Bhldn size conversion chart told me to order a European 38.5 for my US size 8.5 feet. I went with my gut and ordered my usual European size 39.5 and they fit perfectly! The 38.5 shoes would have been much too small for me to wear them comfortably.
